Complete AVCA All-Region Teams
Lexington, KY – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released the 2012 NCAA Division III All-Region teams this week, with Messiah College senior
Lauren Rees among the honorees.
Rees was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region team in recognition of her outstanding play this year as an outside hitter. Recently
named First Team All-Commonwealth Conference for the second-straight season.
This year, Rees became Messiah's
all-time leader in career kills while also setting a
new single-season kills record in 2012.
“I'm thrilled for her,” Messiah head coach
Judi Tobias said. “Lauren is someone who continued to move forward and improve throughout her entire career. She always wanted to be pushed, not for her own personal gain but because she's driven by goals. She's been a great competitor for us.”
Rees' First Team All-Region election is the first of her career, and follows
an Honorable Mention nod in 2011. She is Messiah's first All-Region player since setter Karen Sollenberger in 2002.
