Rees Named AVCA Honorable Mention All-American

Grantham, PA - Less than one week after being named First Team All-Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), senior Lauren Rees was honored as an Honorable Mention All-American.

Rees was named to the All-American after a historic year for the Falcons this season. She was named First Team All-Commonwealth Conference for the second-straight season while setting Messiah records for single-season kills, single-season kills per set, and career kills.

LEXINGTON, KY - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 32nd annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division III women's volleyball. The awards will be presented Nov. 14, 2012, at the NCAA Division III Women's National Championship banquet in Holland, Mich., where the 2012 Division III AVCA Player of the Year will be announced.  The NCAA Division III national quarterfinals begin Nov. 15.

The 2012 class is highlighted by the only four-time All-American recipient of this year's class Marilee Fisher of Washington-St. Louis.

The 2012 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division III All-America Committee: Hannah Long, Southwestern, chairperson; Chad Braegelmann, Minnesota-Morris; Amber Warners, Calvin; Shelley Bauder, Moravian; Deb Kiick, Millikin; Tim Byram, Endicott; Cal Wickens, Nazareth; Valerie Cowan, Pomona-Pitzer.
