About The Camp

  • This summer camp is for advanced beginners through intermediate players
  • Ages 10-18
  • Positive, challenging & fun learning experience.
  • Focuses on all aspects of tennis technic as well as strategy and sportsmanship
  • Experienced certified instructors & college level players with a low student to instructor ratio.
  • Cost of the camp is $260 per session

Typical Schedule

Morning Session to include
  • Both dynamic and all-court warm-up
  • Stroke of the day instruction
  • Drills, competitions, and games

Lunch time : meals are provided.

Afternoon Session to include:
  • On-court and off-court tennis strategy instruction
  • Exhibition by instructors and college players
  • Stroke patterns and drills on setting up points
  • Singles and doubles match play
  • Cool down, stretch, and though of the day
 

About The Staff

Jon Arosell - Camp Director

Coach Arosell is in his third year as head men's and women's tennis coach at Messiah University. Prior to being appointed to the position in 2011, Arosell served as assistant coach for the programs for two seasons.

From 2002 through 2009 he worked as the boy's tenniscoach at Cedar Cliff High School, and he also served as varsity girl’s tennis coach for the Cedar Cliff program in 2006.

A former tennis instructor at the West Shore Tennis Club in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Coach Arosell works as the Camp Hill Recreation Commission Advisor—a position he has held since 2008.

He holds a High Performance Coach Certification and a Cardo Tennis Certification, and is also a lifetime 4.5 level players that has played on four championship teams that have competed at the national level.

Pat Smith - Assistant Director

Patrick Smith has over 40 years of experience as a tennis professional and manager. He is a USPTA Certified Teaching Professional and has completed multiple USPTA Coaching Workshops.

Smith currently works as the Mechanicsburg Parks and Recreation Tennis Director, and also coaches varsity tennis in both the Mechanicsburg Area School District and the West Shore School District.

Previously he has also coached at the collegiate level, including stints at Colorado State University and Messiah University.

Colette Eckert - Assistant Director

Colette Eckert is a USPTR certified teaching professional and has been teaching tennis for 19 years. She has been a National Trainer with the US Tennis Association for the past 10 years and is heading into her 5th year as the head high school girls' tennis coach at Red Lion School District.

Previously she has worked as a Tennis Service Representative for the USTA/MS/Central PA District, promoting tennis and conducting hundreds of physical education trainings, tennis assemblies, and Junior Team Tennis events. Throughout the year, Colette also teaches private and group clinics locally at the Camp Hill Tennis Club.
