Center Valley, PA – Running on the NCAA Division III Mideast Region course, the Messiah men's cross country team notched a fourth-place finish at the DeSales Invitational on Saturday afternoon among a field of 35 teams.

Benjamin Schott lead the way for the Falcons once again with his seventh place finish and a time of 25:55. Schott's top-ten finish gives him his fourth of the season, leading the team in that statistic. Joshua Pardoe followed with his time of 26:29, crossing the finish line in 21st place.

Others finishing in the top 30 were Kaleb Burch (26:35) and Nathaniel Pardoe (26:42), who came in 25th and 29th, respectively. Messiah's final point-scorers were Kirk Mummert (35th, 26:50), Zachary Lofties (51st, 27:22), and Alex Scheib (113th, 28:55). Coach Dale Fogelsanger had particular praise for Burch, who ran a great race with a season-best time on Saturday.

Fogelsanger also spoke on the men's growing momentum late in the season, which will surely benefit them as the season approaches its conclusion.

As a team, Messiah finished in fourth place with 117 points, behind only Dickinson (52), York (Pa.) (75), and Salisbury (85). Significant in their finish, though, was the fact that the Falcons finished first among conference competition. Messiah also beat a handful of regionally ranked teams, including Muhlenberg, DeSales, and Elizabethtown.

The Falcons will take to the course again in the Gettysburg Invitational on Oct. 15 at Gettysburg College.
