Mike Kovach scored first to give Messiah a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute. His goal came by way of a well-placed, high-arcing shot from the right side that went just beyond the reach of keeper Peter Como. The goal was Kovach's third of the season, and third-straight for Messiah
dating back to the previous game against Neumann.
The game stayed 1-0 until late in the second-half, though Gettysburg was only able to get one shot on goal the entire game. Still, they attempted five shots and three corners before the intermission.
With the Bullets furiously chasing the score, Messiah finally managed to build their lead with less than 15 minutes to play.
Danny Brandt's third goal of the season came in the 79th minute and put Messiah up 2-0.
Colby Thomas collected the assist on the play thanks to his long pass over the midfield to Brandt, who turned near the top of the 18 for a perfectly placed shot inside the far left post.
With Gettysburg now forced to open their field even more, the Falcons took advantage and collected three more corners and three more shots before the game was over. The last of those corners led to the last of those shots, a goal by
Brian Ramirez with just 30 seconds to play.
The goal for Ramirez was his first of the season.
The loss dropped Gettysburg to 3-1 while Messiah, as mentioned, moved to 5-0. The Falcons will next play on Saturday, Sept. 13 when they host Catholic University at 7:00 p.m.
