Grantham, Pa -For the second time in program history, the Messiah men's soccer team will be traveling to Medellin, Colombia to serve with the
Christian Union Sports Club (CDUC). Founded in 1991, the CDUC was organized as a way to reach out with the message of the Gospel to young men who were being recruited into the life of violence and crime spawned by the Medellín Drug Cartel.
Today, the CDUC has 29 full-time sports staff, 88 soccer teams with 1,700 participants from the poorest neighborhoods of the city.
The Messiah men's soccer team plans to support and encourage the already thriving ministry of the CDUC. They will be playing in a tournament against regional select teams, supporting the CDUC coaches, and working alongside them in various neighborhoods throughout Medellin. The team will also help with continued construction and renovations of the CDUC stadium, as well as visiting a prison to scrimmage the inmates.
