Messiah Field Hockey All-Time All-Commonwealth Honors

Annville, PA - The Commonwealth Conference released the 2014 field hockey conference awards on Wednesday, with Messiah College honored with four recognitions.
 
Forward Carissa Gehman and defender Becky Ely were named First Team All-Commonwealth. Gehman was also honored with the Rookie of the Year award. Forward Moriah Pfautz and midfielder Lindsay Bower were named Second Team All-Commonwealth. Pfautz earned Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors last season.
 
Gehman leads the Falcons with 49 points on 24 goals and one assist. Her 24 goals leads the Commonwealth and she currently sits in third in points scored.
 
Ely was awarded the defensive honor thanks to her spectacular play on both sides of the ball. She has tallied four goals and five assists on the season, but her impact on the game is oftentimes outside the stat sheet. This is the third consecutive year Ely has earned First Team All-Commonwealth honors.
 
Pfautz was the second leading scorer this year for the Falcons with 22 points on eight goals and six assists. She has given Messiah consistent play up front to challenge opposing defenses.
 
Lindsay Bower was a constant presence in the midfield with solid defense and creating offensive opportunities for the Falcons.
 
The Falcons defeated the no. 1 seeded Arcadia Knights Wednesday night and advanced to the Commonwealth Championship to play the no. 2 seeded Alvernia Crusaders this coming Saturday.
