Grantham, PA – The 2014 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region Teams were announced today and both Becky Ely and Carissa Gehman were honored as First Team selections.

The honors comes less than two weeks after the pair were named First Team All-Commonwealth, with Gehman also picking up the conference's Rookie of the Year award.

Ely is well known to be one of the top defenders in the South Atlantic Region. Though she tallied four goals and six assists for Messiah, her main contributions are oftentimes outside the stat sheet; Ely was the primary leader of a Falcons defense that held opponents to 1.45 goals per game on just 9.7 shots per game.

On the other side of the ball, Gehman exploded this season to score 54 points on 26 goals and two assists. Her points total is the most for a first-year Falcon since Danae (Chambers) Hollenbach scored 63 points in 2001. Entering this past weekend her 1.25 goals per game and 2.60 points per game marks were good for seventh and 11th in the nation, respectively.

This season the Falcons won their eighth-straight Commonwealth Championship and advanced to their 14th-straight NCAA Championships Tournament. On Saturday, they Falcons lost 2-0 to Catholic University in the Second Round.
