Grantham, PA – Messiah College Director of Athletics
Jack Cole announced the resignation of head men's lacrosse coach Geof Weisenborn on Wednesday, May 8. The announcement brings to an end an eight-year run for Weisenborn as the Falcons' skipper, a stretch that included six trips to the MAC/Commonwealth Tournament and four finishes as the MAC/Commonwealth Runner-Up.
“Geof has been a major asset to Messiah College and the Athletics Department for eight years,” Cole said. “His accomplishments and leadership have been appreciated by people across the Messiah campus, and the positive impact he's had on the student-athletes is unquestioned. His integrity and work ethic as a leader will be greatly missed.”
In Weisenborn's eight years with Messiah the team has gone 73-54 (.575) overall with a 56-24 (.700) mark in the conference.
Weisenborn joined the Messiah staff in 2006 and immediately continued the success of the men's lacrosse program. He led the Falcons to three-straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Finals in his first three seasons, collecting a 32-17 overall record and 27-8 record in the conference. In the past five seasons Messiah qualified for three more conference tournaments, losing again in the MAC Finals in 2011. That season, the Falcons tied a program record for total wins (12) en route to a 12-5 finish and 9-2 mark in the MAC.
In the past two seasons, Messiah has combined to go 13-17 including 6-8 in the conference.
Cole said on Wednesday that the Falcons would soon make an announcement regarding the search for a new head men's lacrosse coach.
