Stutzman, Comfort Earn Player of the Week Awards

Annville, PA – Messiah College was honored with two Conference Players of the Week on Monday, as sophomore Trevor Stutzman and senior Maddie Comfort was recognized for their outstanding performances for the Falcons in their respective sports.
 
The awards are voted upon weekly by a panel of Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC ) sports information directors.
 
Trevor Stutzman – Sophomore – Men's Track & Field
 
At Widener's Danny Curran Invitational over the weekend, Trevor won the Shot Put and was the top collegiate athlete in the Discus (2nd overall). He threw a personal best in the Discus (155'11”; 47.52 meters), setting a new school record by 4 inches. His throw is No. 1 in the conference and No. 14 in NCAA Division III thus far in 2013.  
 
His toss in the Shot Put (51'7”; 15.72 meters) is a personal best, No. 2 in the conference behind teammate Fred Fulton, and No. 11 in the NCAA this year.
 
Maddie Comfort – Senior – Women's Lacrosse*
 
Comfort led No. 16 Messiah's defense to an impressive 2-0 week that included an upset of No. 10 York College. In that 17-15 win, Comfort collected six groundballs and six draw controls while forcing two turnovers.
 
Later in the week, she also helped Messiah to a 1-0 start in the Commonwealth as the Falcons pulled away early for a 16-6 decision over Widener. She collected another six draw controls in the victory, adding two groundballs and a caused turnover.
