Grantham, PA — Four players from the Messiah men's and women's soccer teams Messiah College men's soccer players were honored over the weekend by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Each Falcon student-athlete was named Capital One Academic All-District for NCAA Division III.

The four were recognized from Messiah College as District IV members.

Sam Woodworth, a senior from Boothwyn, Pa., carries a 3.92 grade point average (GPA) as a midfielder for the Falcons. Sam is a Health & Physical Education major.

Jordan Sands, a senior from Reading, Pa., carries a 3.44 GPA as a defender for the team. Jordan is a Business Administration major at Messiah College.

The Falcons' men's soccer team won their fifth straight Commonwealth Conference Championship this past Saturday, defeating Alvernia University 4-1 in the title game. Woodworth and Sands have been standout players for a squad that enters the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament with an overall record of 18-0-1, outscoring their opponents 64-9.

For the women's team, junior Corinne Wulf carries a 3.92 GPA as a Nursing major. The forward from Columbus, Ohio, leads the Falcons in goals (18) and points (41).

Kelsey Gorman, a defender from Manheim, Pa., carries a 3.92 GPA as an Accounting major. Gorman is a stalwart member of a Falcons' defense that has allowed only three goals in 2011. Just over the weekend, she was named the tournament MVP as the women's team also won their fifth straight Commonwealth Championship.

All four All-District players become eligible for the Academic All-America ballot. Voting on that ballot begins on November 8.
